From January 2018, the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) will be taking over the processing of Basic checks for England and Wales from Disclosure Scotland.
Paper forms for basic applications will no longer be accepted by the DBS from January 2018. All applications will need to be applied for via the online system.
If an original printed Basic certificate is required by your organisation this will now have to be requested by the applicant when making the online application. Consent to view the completed application must also be given by the applicant at this stage.
To incorporate these changes our online system will need to be upgraded. This upgrade is currently scheduled to happen on Monday 18th December at 8am. On the day the system is upgraded, all relevant England/Wales applications will need to go to the DBS from that day onwards. This means you need to manage any applications that are currently in the ‘Waiting ID’ section and all outstanding invoices will need to be settled before the upgrade date. This will ensure the applications are processed by the correct body otherwise these applications may need to be withdrawn and re-entered after the system upgrade.
